Bridgend County Borough Council has confirmed that the Santa Trail event which was planned to take place in Bridgend town centre on Saturday 27 November has had to be cancelled due to concerns around the potential impact of Storm Arwen.

With a yellow weather warning in place from the Met Office and gusts of more than 50mph forecast, the decision has been reluctantly taken following advice on the potential for high winds, structural damage and flying debris which could cause injuries and pose a danger to families and people attending the event.

The event, which was accessible only with tickets, had been fully booked. It was organised by Bridgend County Borough Council in partnership with EPM Creative and financial contributions from Bridgend Town Council.

All ticket holders are being contacted and informed directly about the decision, and the council and its partners will issue further updates soon.
